The world-renowned automobile manufacturer Volkswagen AG is all set to start work on the much-awaited vehicle assembly plant at Kulliyapitiya with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe laying the foundation stone at 3.00 p.m.
The US$26.5 million BOI project will assemble 1000cc to 2000cc Volkswagen vehicles including passenger cars, sport utility vehicles and multi utility vehicles to be marketed locally for three years and thereafter with the investor venturing into the export market.
