Harbhajan Singh mocks Sri Lanka cricket team

Veteran Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has ridiculed the visiting Sri Lankan team and said they need to revive and “get to international level”. Responding to opener Dimuth Karunaratne’s statement that the Lankans are ready to face the challenge posed by the Indian team (especially R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja), Harbhajan wrote on Twitter, “Same way how they did in recent series.. they r getting beaten by Zimbabwe.. 1st inn 200 second inn 150. Sri Lankan team at their lowest so sad to see them like this.. hope they will revive and get to international level.” However, the Turbanator deleted the tweet soon after.

How Budget 2018 could affect vehicle prices

Sri Lanka’s vehicles importers today said that the Excise Duties of several vehicles are expected to change in line with proposals announced in the 2018 Budget.

Man dies at fuel station

An unfortunate story of an individual who was waiting in a queue to get fuel for his motorbike from the Lanka Seva filling station in Uragasmanhandiya dying of a heart attack was reported on Tuesday (7) night.

The deceased has been identified as Jayantha Premalal (53) of Uthurumagala in Uragasmanhandiya who was a watcher at the Karandeniya Uthurumagala Public Cemetery.

Laggala drowning: Six bodies recovered, Two missing

The bodies of six persons out of the eight who were dragged away by a strong gush of water while bathing in the Telgamuwa stream on Saturday have so far been found.

The victims were two businessmen and their family members.

The bodies recovered on Saturday were of two men, two women and two girls. The bodies of two more girls are yet to be found.

SC affirms Geetha cannot be an MP

A Supreme Court five-judge-bench headed by Chief Justice Priyasath Dep today unanimously ruled that Galle district parliamentarian Geetha Kumarasinghe is not qualified to be elected as a Member of Parliament since she holds dual citizenship.

The Supreme Court upheld the Court of Appeal judgment dated May 3 and its order in the nature of writ of Quo Warranto declaring that Galle District MP Geetha Kumarasinghe is disqualified to be a member of parliament and thus not entitled to hold office as a Member of Parliament.

President Donald Trump said he would end the popular US green card lottery as police said a radicalised Uzbek man staged the deadly truck ramming in New York after entering the country under the program.

Ranjan appointed Gampaha UNP Organiser

Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake was appointed as the United National Party (UNP) Organiser for Gampaha District by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today.

Addressing the media in the Parliament premises, Minister Ramanayake said he was asked to be removed from his former organiser post following several petitions received by the party which had claimed that he was struggling against several under world groups.
