A member of the underworld who goes by the name ‘Raththaran’ has been killed in a shooting in Mulleriyawa.
Police said the victim was shot by an armed motorcyclist while he was travelling on a motorcycle this morning.
The suspects of the shooting are yet to be identified while a special investigation has been launched into the incident.

A suspect has been arrested close to the Veyangoda Railway Station, in connection to the murder of ‘Udamwita Samare’ – a member of an underworld gang.
Police said the suspect was arrested by officers of the Peliyagoda Crimes Investigation Division.They added that the murder was carried out based on a financial dispute.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the shooting was also seized last week.Another individual was injured and hospitalised in the shooting which took place on the 24th of last month.
