Tharanga delighted about Malinga’s return

Sri Lanka's new T20 captain, Upul Tharanga was delighted about the return of the country's premier fast bowler, Lasith Malinga to the T20 team that will play a three-match T20 series in Australia.

Tharanga who had lead SL in two ODI series' in Zimbabwe and now in South Africa is given the responsibility of leading SL team for the Australian tour ahead of former World T20 winning skipper Malinga as the regular skipper Angelo Mathews is ruled out due to injury.

This will be Tharanga's first assignment as T20 captain and is currently in good form smashing his 14th ODI ton last Tuesday with a half century of that came in just 24 deliveries. His score of 119 included seven sixes.

"I am given a good team and hope to seal the series in Australia," said Tharanga who was clearly happy about the return of the experienced campaigners such as Chamara Kapugedera, Milinda Siriwardene, Dilshan Munaweera and power hitter Dasun Shanaka. Eight players, Niroshan Dickwella, Asela Gunarathne, Kusal Mendis, Sachith Pathirana, Nuwan Kulasekara, Lakshan Sandakan, Vikum Sanjaya and skipper Tharanga will fly direct to Melbourne, after the completion of the fifth ODI here at Centurion.
