KANDY: Two families of Dehiattakandiya and Kandy enjoyed the wedding yesterday of two of their youth, who had both undergone kidney transplants.
The both the bride and the bridegroom have undergone kidney transplants at the Kandy General Hospital.
Bride Nimali Neranjala from Dehiattakandiya has had a kidney transplanted on December 10, 2009. Bridegroom Chamara Lakmal of Ketawala Leula near Kandy had his transplantation on July 27, 2005.
The successful operations were done by specialist surgeon Dr. P. K. Harischandra.
The couple has known each other from 2002 since they attended the Kandy hospital for treatment. The acquaintance later blossomed into a love affair and on Thursday (19), they entered a matrimonial life with the blessings of their families.
This marriage is said to be second union of kidney patients, who attended the clinics of the kidney treatment ward of the Kandy General Hospital.
