The Government of Finland is prepared to fully assist Sri Lanka turn a new leaf in the field of power and energy. It has offered to help in generating electricity using the ocean's waves, according to the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy.
Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and Finnish Ambassador to Sri Lanka Rauli Auikkanen had discussed the matter yesterday at the former's ministry.
It was agreed, on this occasion, that since Sri Lanka is surrounded by the sea, it will be of great help in generating hydroelectricity from sea waves and modern technology can be used for that purpose as well.Another topic, subject to discussion on this occasion, was that this task can be carried out at a lesser cost and that it would be a solution to the power crisis which occurs during periods of drought.
