Former President and Kurunegala District MP Mahinda Rajapaksa has accepted the leadership of the Joint Opposition.
Rajapaksa announced this after worshipping at the Sri Maha Bodhi and the Swarnamali Maha Seya on Tuesday, where he obtained blessings of the Sangha.
Responding to questions asked by journalists, the former President said "I have taken over the leadership of the Joint Opposition (JO)."
