A member of the Army Intelligence Directorate was arrested last Monday (20) evening on suspicion of being involved in the assault on journalist Keith Noyahr in 2008.
Police Media said the suspect, a 34-year-old resident of Wegowwa, Minuwangoda, is a member of the Army Intelligence Directorate. He was produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court yesterday (21).
Journalist Keith Noyahr was assaulted on 22 May 2008. It was later revealed that an unidentified group forcibly entered Noyahr's house, kidnapped and assaulted him after threatening him with firearms.
Noyahr fled the country following the incident. Several members of the Army were arrested previously in connection with the incident.
Although the suspects were produced before several identification parades, journalist Keith Noyahr did not participate in any of the proceedings.
