The Sri Lanka team that suffered another humiliating nine wicket defeat at the first One Day against India, were booed by a group of any spectators opposite the main building of the Dambulla Cricket Stadium yesterday (20).
The team bus was unable to leave the stadium due to the protest.
The protestors shouted, “Give us back our cricket” and “We want 96’ cricket”.
India blanked the Sri Lankan team 3-0 in the Test series, while the Indians effortlessly beat the Sri Lankans by 9 wickets yesterday at the 1st ODI.
Eventually the riot police and the STF were brought in to disperse the protesting crowds.
The team bus was held up within the stadium until the protesters were dispersed.
