The former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had gone to the Welikada prison to visit the former Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and former TRC Director General Anusha Palpita who are currently serving a jail term.
While on his visit the former President had met with media and responded to their questions. At one point he seemed quite stern in his response to a journalist, “There is no fault. I admit that I am the one who gave the order. Don’t try to provoke me. What you want is to create a huge media spectacle,” he retorted.
Rajapaksa further replied, “This is not a wrong. I have written eight points and given. I had allocated the funds for these eight things that I had told them. This was not done for the elections. We will appeal this verdict. There are some legal issues here as well.”
