Army Sergeant Major who was arrested in connection with Lasantha Wickramatunga murder has been remanded till July 27.
CID sources said today that the arrest was made at CID headquarters when military officer was summoned to obtain a statement over Wickrematunge’s assassination.
The military officer is attached to intelligence wing of the Sri Lanka Army.
Lasantha Wickrematunge, founding editor of the Sunday Leader newspaper was assassinated in January 2009. Initially the then government runs by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the military was blamed for the assassination.
